A large seal of the Commonweath is attached.
Description of seal
Quantity: 1 seal.
Attachment: Pendant on tag.
Colour: Brown.
Damage: 2 – some damage.
Shape and size: 133mm. Circular.
Impression(s) and single or double-sided: Double-sided. Great seal of the Commonwealth. One side shows crowd of people, with figure on throne in the centre, and two people writing at a table in front. People in crowd are wearing capotains. Legend partially legible, it reads: “GOD’S BLESSING RESTORED 1651 IN THE THIRD YEAR OF FREE…..”. Reverse side shows landmasses of the British Isles, without Scotland. Around the islands are a harp within a border, and the cross of St. George within a border. Legend illegible.
Other (curatorial): Seal and document kept within custom made box. Seal protected by layers of foam.
