Description of seal

Owner/creator: William Alnwick (Bishop of Lincoln).
Quantity: 2 seals, 1. single-sided, 2. single-sided.
Attachment: 1. pendant on tag, 2. pendant on tag.

Damage: 1: 3. moderate damage, 2: 4. much damage.
Shape and size: 1. 60mm (remains) x 45mm. The remains indicate a vesica shape. 2. 36mm (remains) x 31mm (remains). The shape cannot be inferred from the remains. Impressions: 1. The remains indicate the Virgin crowned, seated in a tabernacle. At the sides are two figures in tabernacles. Below, a figure in a niche between two shields with heraldry; on the left the coat of arms of the Diocese of Lincoln, on the right the coat of arms of William Alnwick. 2. The remains show a figure standing in an arch with right hand raised, palm outwards. Legend: 1. obverse - [....] Maria [....]. .
