Immediate Source of Acquisition

The manuscripts were given to King's College Library by Lady Anne Barnes in 1977. They had been acquired by Sir George Barnes at some unknown time, from an unknown source; probably an auction. The sheets were received loose in a cardboard file. The back cover is slightly stained and the front cover bears the following inscriptions on the outside: 1. Upper left corner, in ink: 'Lot 712' 2. Just below this, in pencil: '84/34' 3. Just above and slightly to the left of the centre, in pencil: 'L09 7 125 Chapbook' 4. Just below this, slightly further to the left, in pencil: '50/41'. The items were received arranged according to author, but in no clear order of author. The order in which they were found in January 1979 was as follows: Ezra Pound; John Bailey; Robert Graves; John Freeman; Frank Sidgwick; T. S. Osmond; Sherard Vines; Thomas Hardy; T. Sturge Moore; Arthur Waugh; T. S. Eliot; George Saintsbury; Gerald Gould; Edward Johnston; Charlotte Mew; Martin Armstrong; Laurence Binyon; Lascelles Abercrombie; Gordon Bottomley; Bernard Shaw.
