Professional studio portrait of Mohammed el Adl as a young man, seated in a carved straight-backed chair, holding a flywhisk in his right hand, which rests on a white table with curved stretchers. He is wearing a tarboosh, dark suit, dark waistcoat, bow tie and spats. Taken at Alexandria. Two copies, postcards, 12.6 x 7.2 and 13.7 x 8.7. EMF/27/322 inscribed on back, by E.M. Forster, 'Mohammed el Adl / c 1917. With ticket'. Tram ticket for journey between Alexandria and Cleopatra stations pasted on back. EMF/27/323 inscribed on back, by Florence Barger, 'E.M.F. asks you to return this to F.B. Malahide, Englefield Green, Surrey' and inscribed on back, by E.M. Forster, 'Oct. 1917?'. (Sleeve 129)
