Student magazines: Thersites, 1909-1938
Scope and Contents
'Thersites' is the longest-running Newnham student magazine. The first issue was November 1909 and the last, as far as is known, was Michaelmas, 1938 (no. 113). A piece on its founding is on p.7 of the Roll Letter 1910.
Most issues are present as individual items and there are bound volumes covering the periods 1910, 1911, 1912, 1913, 1914, 1915, Michaelmas 1928 - May 1930 and Michaelmas 1930 - May 1932.
In most issues a few half-tone reproductions appeared and where these were loose, they have been removed and listed as photographs (see PH/7/5).
Issues no. 68, 75, 106 and 107 are missing. Issue no. 87 is present as part of the volume covering the period Michaelmas 1928 to May 1930 only. Two issues have the number 78 - i.e. 6 June 1925 and 5 December 1925. There are duplicates of many issues.
