Jane Harrison: glass slide collection, [late 19th - early 20th century]
Scope and Contents
These were used by Jane Harrison in lectures, both in London and in Cambridge. Each slide was lettered and numbered, but did not appear to be in any particular order. Gaps in the numbering suggest that more existed at one time. Much of the lettering system used can be interpreted: eg, Ac Acropolis; P Parthenon; Aa Athena, etc. The slides have been cleaned, repaired where possible, and arranged alphabetically, in accordance with Jane Harrison's lettering. Many are photographs of buildings, sites, vases; a few are hand painted or hand written. see individual files for more details, 3/4/1-8.
