Off-prints from academic journals and hand-outs from academic seminars, 1878-2008
Scope and Contents
This series of acdemic off-prints, and hand-outs from acadermic seminars, was accrued by Michael H. Crawford over several decades. Colleagues sent him off-prints of their recently published articles and he was aso gifted much older, important off-prints from others' private collections. The subject matter is predominantly the material culture of the ancient Mediterranean during the ancient Greek, Hellenistic and Roman eras, with a focus upon epigraphy and numismatics.

Arrangement
The off-prints are arranged as they were kept in MHC's personal filing system. A general section on Mediterranean archaeology in antiquity is followed by files grouped mostly according to the Roman province in which material under discussion was found. Arrangement is in the great majority, if the subject of the article permits, by geographical region even if this is the modern iteration e.g. 'Spain'. A very few files group publications according to religion and culture ('Jewish') or time period ('Medieval').
Custodial History
The off-prints were weeded by Dr A. Burman in August 2018 and only those for which no other copy existed in any University of Cambridge collection were retained. The amount retained was signicant as the collection is extensive and the provenance of items is often from more niche European journals not regularly subscribed to by the University's libraries.
