Scope and Contents

From the File:

This file features the pottery and small finds, including Linear B tablets, excavated by A.J.B. Wace and his team at Mycenae during the 1954 season. The majority of photographs in this group reference finds from the House of Shields, the House of Sphinxes, and the House of the Oil Merchant: the group of Houses outside of the citadel known as the ‘Ivory Houses’ (For a complete publication see Tournavitou, I. 1995. The ‘Ivory Houses’ at Mycenae. The British School at Athens. Supplementary Volumes, No. 24, London).
Work was also carried out at Citadel House, the Cyclopean Terrace Building and test trenches were sunk near the Tomb of Aegisthus and the Lion Tomb.
