Drawings of Mycenae artefacts published in BSA XXIV and BSA XXV, 1920-1923
Scope and Contents
This group of drawings were commissioned from the archaeological illustrators Piet de Jong and Emile Gilléron fils during the excavation seasons of 1920-1923. Created in opaque watercolours (gouache) and ink and pencil line drawings, they were published in the Annual of the British School at Athens, volumes XXIV (1920) and XXV (1921-23), to illustrate the twelve installments of the definitive report of the excavations.

Arrangement
The drawings were collated by A. J. B. Wace, and their arrnagment later refined by E. B. W. French, into two groups. The first group are 'status' objects such as seal stones, beads, bronze items and ivories. The second group comprises pottery objects.
