Biographical / Historical
Born 17 December 1886 at Neponset, Illinois, prepared in Kewanee, Ill., Ph.B.; teacher of Latin and German, Whitewater (Wis.) High School, 1900-1902; Teacher in Cherokee (Ia.) Highschool, 1902. A graduate (Class of 1900) of Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois), listed in 'Alumni Record of the College of Liberal Arts, 1903' as entry 1160, see p. 322. In 1904 she received a MA from Wellesley College, in the area of Latin and Comparative Philology, Thesis: 'The Treatment of Nature in Lucretius, with a brief comparative study of Catullus and the Augustan Poets'. On the staff of Wellesley College in 1911-1912 as an Assistant teaching Cicero, De Senectute, Letters; Livy, Books XXI, XXII Horace, Selections from the Odes and Epodes. Listed as 'Dr. Lulu G. Eldridge, 32 E. 57th St., New York, N. Y. (Life member). 1920', in “Proceedings of the Fifty-Sixth Annual Meeting of the American Philological Association. Also of the Twenty-Sixth Annual Meeting of the Philological Association of the Pacific Coast”.
