Scope and Contents

1954 Director's Daybook and diary compiled by A. J. B. Wace. Includes notes on hiring equipment, arrivals and departures, illnesses and events. Daily summary of excavations at House of Sphinxes, House of Shields, House of Oil Merchant Street, Cyclopean Wall, Tholos trials - Lion Tomb and Aegisthus West, Theatre, South House, Citadel House. At the back of the notebook, lists of half and quarter plate photos, notes on particular finds (54-166, 54-814), notes on objects in museums, commentary on the Lion Tomb and a draft of the preliminary report for the 1954 excavation season.
1 insert: 1 leaf of paper, handwritten in ink, note on National Archaeological Museum Athens bronze object 3120 found in 1895 at Mycenae in Tomb 81.

Buff and green card cover, spiral bound (Tumbler university notebook), handwritten in ink, 18.5 x 21 cm Foliated by AJBW to f. 70, ff.80 in total. Entire notebook used. Fragile, front board completely detached from spiral binding and text block. 1 insert of 1 leaf of paper left in situ at end of notebook.
