Scope and Contents
Director's Daybook for 1939 compiled by A. J. B. Wace. Daily summary notes on excavations across the site: the Archaic Temple and Prinaria, House of Columns, Postern Gate, Gymnasium, Hellenistic House, Epano Phournos tomb, Middle and Late Helladic Cemetery, Lisa's House, the Treasury of Atreus and Schliemann's Dump.
Includes observations and measurements made by AJBW on his return visits to Mycenae during 1940 and also to nearby Dendra in the same year.
Lists at the back include contents of a box left at Mycenae marked 'personal belongings', Mycenae kit lists of supplies such as medicines, a multiplicity of coloured inks and other excavation sundries.
1 insert: a sketch plan in pencil by AJBW of chamber and tholos tombs at Dendra (in the Argolid) dated 1939.

Green cloth cover with red edging, handwritten in pencil and ink, 14.8 x 18.7 cm Foliated by AJBW, ff. 92. Plan of Dendra tombs drawn on a separate leaf of paper, stapled in at f. 90, now removed, conserved and preserved as a separate insert within the notebook's individual phase box.
