Scope and Contents
Excavation and Pottery Notebook compiled by May A. B. Herford for the 1921 excavations at the Ramp House, Palace, South House and House of the Warrior Vase. The Tomb of Clytemnestra, Grave Circle A and Lion Gate are also mentioned.
Includes sketch plans, section drawings, with stratification and pottery notes for the foot of the Ramp in particular.
The notebook was reused by AJBW in 1923 to record photographs taken in Nauplia Museum and the National Archaeological Museum Athens.
AJBW also used the back of the notebook, turned upside down, for 1923 pottery notes for the Cyclopean Terrace Building and the Palace.
5 inserts: all handwritten by AJBW, 1 leaf provides commentary and notes detailing the 1922 excavation of Chamber Tomb 533, including a sketch plan of the tomb, annotated in red ink with find spots of objects indicated; 4 leaves of notes and a finds list.
