Chaeronaea Mycenae I, 1915-1920
Scope and Contents
Notebook, initially used by A. J. B. Wace to document an excursion to Chaeronaea and Parnassus in September 1915, then Eleusis in August 1918, finally reused as a notebook for excavations at Mycenae in April, May and June 1920. AJBW records arrivals and departures to the site and focuses on excavation within the acropolis, particularly Grave Circle A and the Lion Gate, but also includes notes on the Treasury of Atreus. Includes sketch plans.
One insert of 1 leaf of paper in front pocket, on which AJBW expands on notes made on f. 65 regarding a grave near Shaft Grave VI in Grave Circle A.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
Pale brown cloth cover, handwritten in graphite pencil and indelible pencil (faint purple with some water marks and bleeding), 17.5 x 11.5 cm. Foliated by AJBW, ff. 92 1 insert of a leaf of paper handwritten in ink by AJBW, now stored flat in notebook's individual phase box.
