Letter from James Stewart in Sydney re his forthcoming Levantine and Turkish itinerary, 1935-09-16
Scope and Contents
Addressed and dated 'Sydney. 16 Sept. 1935'. Stewart is still recuperating from his wisdom teeth extraction which has left his jaw feeling pulverised. He encloses a letter for a Sladen grant for AJBW's approval. He and Eleanor have been busy packing, although it has proved impossible to source some archaeology necessities. He sketches out a tentative Levantine and Turkish intinerary, to be agreed with Miss Coutts and to include picking up 'Johnny'. He asks if they could dig Jortan (Yortan, valley of Bakir Cai (Kaikos) in western Turkey), if Professor Blegen is not considering it. He finishes with thanking AJBW for his letter regarding Miss (Hetty) Goldman and the possibility of working with her at Tarsus.
