Text in French (and some Arabic) with pasted-in, tissue-paper rectangles with hand drawn copies of 28 Latin inscriptions, 1 plan of the Roman fort of Kalama.
5 loose inserts – 2 sketches in pencil of Atlas mountain passes – ‘Vue de Krenek’ and Passage de l’oued zarzour du pied du Seba Regoun’, dated 1838; 4 folia of further inscriptions.

2 gatherings: (a) fold of foolscap laid paper with title ms in ink on first, 3rd and 4th folia; contains 5 loose inserts (ms in ink and drawings in graphite pencil with ink captions),
6 bifolia held together with blue ribbon through two holes in spine fold
(b) continuation of ms in ink on 4 bifolia of laid paper, held together with blue ribbon through 2 holes in spine fold.
