[Negative print of scene of village mummers]
Scope and Contents
29 positive photographic prints in total of 27 views of landscape, coastline, ancient fortification walls and archaeological ruins, villages and villagers - often dressed as mummers (actors). 2 negative photographic prints for which no positive print exists. Together with an envelope titled and dated by AJBW, 'Thessaly, Jan-Feb1910'.
AJBW wrote a title in pencil on the back for 16 of the prints, if he doubted his attribution of place, he included a question mark to denote his uncertainty.
Item 12, featuring the Penteli cave, is an anomaly because it is situated in Attika, not Thessaly. However, it remains in this group of photographs where Wace placed it, thereby retaining the original order of the set.
