Scope and Contents

Lord Taylour's 1974 - 1979 general archaeological correspondence consists of a series of letters written to and from various archaeologists, constituting inquiries about excavations and excavated materials, requests for workers on excavations, university politics, scholarly opinions on articles and theses, also including various thank you letters for articles, photographs, postcards and Christmas and New Year cards sent. There is also correspondence about topics like general life, family health and the state of the world (one letter referring to the 1974 London bombings). In the meantime, there are a few revelations about Lord Taylour himself, as, for instance, we discover in a letter from 1978 that he is 'very bad at mathematics'.
