MA L/R trips 1960, 1960
Scope and Contents
In 1960 Lord Taylour visits towns, villages and cities in Austria, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Belgium, including locations like Florence, Pompeii, Kalavryta, Radimlja, Oberammergau and Bruges. This file has a focus on religion and Roman material culture, with images of churches and cathedrals, a play on the life of Jesus in Oberammergau and medieval Christian artwork; and also views of ancient remains from Pompeii and Roman architecture in various locations. Views of palazzos, mountain ranges, landscapes, houses, hotels, roads, views from the train, bridges, the Land Rover group and picnics, and what Lord Taylour describes as an 'old actor as porter' from Oberammergau, all feature.
