Scope and Contents
4 half plate images of stone reliefs on early Byzantine monuments in Constantinople/Istanbul (the kathisma on the obelisk of Thedosius, taken in situ by AJBW who put his finger over the lens)
3 half plate images of ancient fortification walls in the landscape
10 smaller prints with images featuring a large church or monastery (4 copies of this image), grape vines (2 copies of this image), a small port town, a rocky outcrop in a rural setting, Mount Lykabettos (Λυκαβηττός) seen from the British School at Athens, the sheer walls of a fortified monastery, a small stone Christian reliquary in a rocky landscape, a teenage boy and girl - the girl in festal Greek or Turkish dress, a printed monochrome postcard of an olive grove around a circular pool, and lastly a group of people in the landscape - most walking away from the camera except for a little girl in the foreground who is looking straight at the photographer.

1 envelope, handwritten in blue pencil (not AJBW's hand), 'English School', H. 9 cm x W. 15.5 cm
