Item
Reference Code: GBR/3437/AJBW/3/11/57
Scope and Contents
A man in a suit, with a spectacular moustache, and his diminutive wife in an elaborately ruched blouse, pose for their photograph. The Demarch (Δήμαρχος or Mayor) of Glossa, Skopelos.
There was a Stamatiou Demarch (D. Stamatiou, this man's grandfather?) in Glossa in the 1840s. The family probably originated from Macedonia (according to Αρχείον Θεσσαλικών Μελετών vol. 3, p. 106 / 1974).
