Notes on Hellenistic Greek sculpture, indexed at the back ff. 75 v.-76. Notes taken from a bibilographic review of the subject, organised by museum collection and/or name of the sculpture.
Also includes notes made in person by Wace at the Athens Archaeological Museum, each object under study referenced by its museum number.
8 inserts:
a business card in a stamped, franked envelope addressed to 'John Wace' at the British Scool in Athens. The card has on the recto, in Greek, the printed name and address of Joseph N. Skouzes, student of the Rosarios School, Monastery of Hosios Louka. On the verso, written in ink in tiny script in katharevousa Greek, a note sending good wishes for the New Year and Wace's name day (7 January). He asks if Arthur can send a visiting card to him. He thanks him for his kind willingness to contact a doctor in London for him, from whom he is awaiting a response. He would like pictures [photographs?] of them and the monastery to be sent to him. Undated.
a note in ink on a pale blue leaf of paper at f. 6, dated 1 December 1903, from Charles Waldstein, King's College, Cambridge, written in French as a letter of general recommendation for Wace (to enable his access to study collections) .
a leaf of scrap paper with notes (deep tear from top edge) placed at f. 69, listing museum object numbers
5 leaves of notes on scrap paper of various sizes at f. 76, listing museum object numbers and bibliographic references
The notebook is undated, presumed to be a record of Wace's intensive studies of Greek sculpture and art during his time as a student at the British School at Athens, 1902-1903.

Dark buff-coloured waxed cloth cover with a number 3 written on spine and front cover, handwritten in ink and pencil, text block of lined paper, 21.3 x 16.2 cm.
Foliated by AJBW, ff. 77 (including unfoliated first leaf).
8 inserts: a business card in a franked envelope, a note in ink on a pale blue leaf of paper at f. 6, a leaf of scrap paper with notes (deep vertical tear from top edge) placed at f. 69, 5 leaves of notes on scrap paper of various sizes placed at f. 76.
Fragile, cover boards badly bumped and revealing card substrate at all 4 corners, the poor quailty of paper is causing gradual discolouration to all leaves.
