Letter from Dimitris Theocharis re excavations and objects at Zerelia, Pirasos and Sesklo, 1956-10-20
Scope and Contents
Theoharis writes from Argissa near Larissa, thanking Wace for his suggestions and advice regarding pre historic Thessaly. He has found artefacts at Zerelia and wishes to display them at the museum of Almyrios, so long as Marinatos agrees. He asks for Wace to add his influence to this end. He has excavated at Pirasos with interesting results, including Neolithic pottery, huts with post holes, a Bronze Age building with a furnace and an infant burial. Also a 4th c. B.C. building with proto Geometric pottery [sic], and Neolithic figurines but no inscibed pottery like at Thebes. He concludes with a discussion of chronology in relation to the site of Sesklo.
