Report from Axel Persson re the Swedish excavations at Berbati and Prosymna, bulk: The report seems to have been written after the summer excavations of 1936.
Scope and Contents
Persson's report concerns the Swedish excavations at Berbati and Prosymna in the summer of 1936. He describes the progress of the excavation and the discovery of several Late Mycenaean buildings. The excavation also uncovered clay pits and kilns: Persson suggests that Berbati could be the ceramic centre of Mycenae. He then discusses the pot sherds found at Berbati, which suggest trade with Cyprus and Rhodes. Finally, he describes the excavation of six Mycenaean chamber tombs and their finds. He ends with his interpretation of the history of the settlement.
