Biographical / Historical
Browne was born in 1911 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. He was educated at Harrow School before attending Pembroke College. He studied Maths and Natural Sciences. In 1947 he became a Fellow of Trinity College, and a Lecturer for the University. He worked on gravitational force and the acceleration of submarines, originating the ‘Browne Correction.’ He died in 1968.
