Biographical / Historical
George Alexander Scott was born 14 May 1862 at Rampore, Bengal, India, and was the son of Robert Jacob Scott, deceased, of Epsom, Judge of the High Court, Calcutta, and Henrietta Frances, 4th daughter of Nathaniel Alexander, deceased, of Epsom. He studied at Repton School. He matriculated in 1880, was made a scholar in 1882, and was awarded his B.A. in 1884. He was admitted to the Inner Temple on 17 November 1884, and called to the Bar on 17 November 1887. He was on the South Wales Circuit. He lived at Brandries, Beddington, Surrey. He was an Official Referee at the Royal Courts of Justice from 1920-1933. He married Alice, eldest daughter of Daniel Faucon, deceased, author and journalist; Florence Sybil, 2nd daughter (by his second marriage) of Ellis Williams, deceased, of the Stock Exchange. He was the author of articles on fishing in The Field, Daily Telegraph, etc. He died 29 March 1933, aged 70, in London, and was buried at Epsom.
