3 items of correspondence dated 13, 14 and 19 May 1875. 2 letters were written to Pembroke by Alfred Richings' father, also Alfred; 1 requesting a place for his son at the College and providing some background on his academic history, and the second concerning Richings' caution money, and providing some brief biographical information. The final item consists of a testimonial penned by Richings' former tutor George Bruce Rhind, a fellow of Christ's College, Cambridge.

Biographical / Historical
Alfred Richard Cornelius Richings was admitted to Pembroke 3 July 1875 as a pensioner aged 19. He was the only son of the Rev. Alfred Cornelius Richings of Boxmoor, Hertfordshire, and was born at Beaminster, Dorset. Richings received his B.A. in 1880 and was admitted to the Inner Temple on 27 November 1881, before being called to the bar 17 June 1885. During his lifetime, Richings acted as an Equity Draftsman and Conveyancer. He died 25 August 1914 at Winchester, aged 58.
