There is or was at least one portrait of Dr Yates in existence - it was sold at Christie's in 1972 for very little (one of two in the lot, which made 50 gns). This image is a scan of a photocopy of a photocopied printed catalogue page in the National Portrait Gallery Archive. It is of poor quality. The stain across the forehead may be on the catalogue page or the picture itself.
