Author identified by Paul Hutchinson (SE on College Facebook) as Philip William Wheeldon, who became Bishop of Whitby in 1954 (and then Bishop of Kimberley and Kuruman: his successor as Bishop of Whitby, George Snow [Jon's father] was the first of six to live in parish of Stokesley - the last being Martin Warner).
