John Sweet papers
Scope and Contents
These papers were mainly transferred by John Sweet and include correspondence, college papers, biographies, obituraries and orders of service. The majority of the papers comprise correspondence between John Sweet and members of Selwyn and their relatives, some following the deaths of Selwyn alumni, which John used to compile obituaries for the Calendar. Additional papers were passed on after his death by his widow, Mary Sweet and his family and include further historical publications and also papers collected by John during his period as Secretary for the Cambridge Theological Book club (1969-2000).
Biographical / Historical
Revd Canon Dr John Sweet 1927-2009, Fellow at Selwyn 1958-2009, ordained as deacon 1955, priest in 1956, came to Selwyn in 1958 and remained for rest of his career serving variously as Dean of Chapel, Tutor, Director of Studies, Vice-Master and Acting Master.
