Letter written by Thomas Francis Griffith to his mother about visit of Prime Minster Gladstone [February 1887] to Selwyn (on the same day as he planted a tree at Newnham) with two photographs including an early view of Selwyn College beyond haystacks (across what is now the site of Cripps Court) and a group of undergraduates with a dog. TE Griffiths is on the back row on the right.
