Biographical / Historical
Peter James Minter Aston (1922-2017) came to Selwyn in 1946 to read Land Economy. He was a keen sportsman and played rugby and participated in distance and cross country running with the university team. He was also Secretary and later President of the College Athletic Club. His family donated photographs to the College of him in uniform and of him running. One of these photos shows Peter Aston leading a three mile race at Fenners with Chris Brasher (who went on to be pacemaker for Roger Bannister’s 4 minute mile in 1954) behind in third place.
