Biographical / Historical
The Logarithms Society was the earliest of the College societies and was founded on 11th October 1884 in the rooms of Rev. GH Sing, the first Tutor of the Selwyn. It was so named because it was to meet after 10pm for the discussion of papers presented by members on a theme by convention outside their subjects. Its meetings brought together junior and senior members of College and continued for well over a century, occasionally with distinguished guest speakers, covering a varied and challenging range of topics.
