Biographical / Historical
Second Bursar of Selwyn (although Brock and others refer to him as the first despite the fact that Lieutenant-Colonel Watson was in office for a year from 1882, before dying). Humprey is remembered as an outstanding marksman. In 1881 he presented the Humphry Challenge Cup to the Cambridge University Long Range Rifle Club, now known as the Cambridge University Rifle Association (see http://www.cam.ac.uk/societies/cura/history.html). The Humprey, as it is known continues to be an annual event.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
This may have been the print that was on display in the Bursar's office and was part of the College Pictures collection (no.95) before the move over to Ann's Court in 2005 and then reappared and was passed to the Archives, though no reference has been recorded before it was catalogued later that year

DateText: The Rifle Club first competed for the Chancellors Challenge Trophy against Oxford in 1862; hence assuming that their centenary was held in 1962..
