Philip John Durrant was educated at St Paul's School before coming to Cambridge where he entered Corpus Christi College in 1919. He then became a Fellow at Selwyn in 1923 and directed studies in Natural Sciences, serving later as Senior Tutor and finally as Vice Master of Selwyn.
