Biographical / Historical
Charles John Abraham (1814-1903) was a friend of Bishop Selwyn when they were both at Eton and later accompanied him to New Zealand. He was instrumental in the foundation of Selwyn College. Caroline Harriet Hudson was born in Leicestershire c. 1809 and became Caroline Palmer after her father changed his name in 1813. She later married Charles John Abraham in 1850 before travelling to New Zealand where she demonstrated talent as a watercolour artist.
