Clark memoir and photographs, 1952, 2021
Scope and Contents
Papers including two letters from Leonard Clark (SE 1951) containing memories of his time at Selwyn sent to the Development team following his 90th birthday. The first letter describes how Leonard Clark came to Selwyn in 1951 as an Exhibitioner to read History after completing National Service and was grateful to be living in a small college and on A Staircase which was centrally heated and with a bathroom on each floor. He later went on to teach at the Police Staff College at Bramshill, Newbattle Abbey and Oxford Poly that became Oxford Brookes University. The subsequent letter accompanied three photographs of the Selwyn 5th Boat that did creditably well in the May 1952 bumps, the crew in Old Court in borrowed Boat Club blazers and the Master, Telfer coming out of Chapel ahead of the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Geoffrey Fisher, in 1952.
