Scope and Contents

The photographs in this file have some indication of date and / or place / people / event. 12 items in file, as follows:
2 sepia photographs, each 15cm x 10cm, mounted on board, of a group in academic dress, inscribed in pencil ‘St Andrew’s centenary’, with partial key to names including Joseph Larmor and J J Thomson;
1 sepia flimsy photograph, 28cm x 24cm, taken by Gillman & Co of St Aldates, Oxford. Inscribed on back in pencil ‘Brit[ish] Assoc[iation] Oxford’ together with partial key to names. Shows a group of 8 men probably in the grounds of an Oxford college. 1890s?;
1 black and white photograph, 19cm x 15cm, of a group of 9 men in formal dress. Circa 1920? Key to surnames pencilled on back, including Bragg, Petavel, Larmor (Dugat [?] lClerk, Jeans, Hadfield, Michelson, and Parsons;
1 sepia photograph, 20cm x 15cm, of a group of 8 men in formal dress. 1917 pencilled on back together with a partial key to names including Sir H Jackson, Sir Ch[arles] Parsons, Sir J[oseph] Larmor, Prof J C McLennan, and A C Swinton;
1 black and white group photograph by Benjamin Couprie of 32 Avenue Louise, Brussels, of the Troisième Conseil de Physique at the Institut International de Physique Solvay held in Brussels 1-6 April 1921. Key to names includes W L Bragg, J Larmor, E Solvay, E Rutherford and Madame Curie. Also photocopy of same;
1 black and white group photograph, 24cm x 19cm, mounted on card, of ‘Members of 4th Conference of the International Union for Co-operation in Solar Research, Mt Wilson, California, USA Aug 30 – Sep 3 1910’, with partial key to names pencilled on mount, including J Larmor;
1 sepia group photograph, 24cm x 18cm, of those attending Astronomical and Astrophysical Society of America meeting of 19 August 1910 at the Harvard College Observatory, with separate key to names including Sir J Larmor;
1 black and white group photograph, 21cm x 29cm, by Stearn & Sons, of the Astronomical Union, Cambridge, 1925;
2 black and white group photographs, each 23cm x 17cm, mounted on board, of the ‘Conférence Internationale des Académies-Séance plénière - Rome 1910’; 2 different groups but no names given.
