Scope and Contents
This file contains chiefly miscellaneous notes: undated, but some note the book in the Larmor Collection in which they were found.
The file also contains proofs for some short articles by Joseph Larmor, including the following: ‘Escapements and Quanta’, 1921; ‘On Non-Radiating Atoms’, 1921; and ‘The Mechanics of the Ascent of Sap in Trees’ [no date];
Also: menu for a dinner at Peterhouse, 29 October 1902, on which is scribbled a note reading’ A propos of total internal reflection - Do you remember Airey’s pathetic remark (re [symbol indicating 'the square root of minus 1'], which Fresnel had done). It is improbable that this can have no meaning. What can the meaning be?’; invitation to Larmor to a dinner at King’s College 5 June [no year given]; and a letter from George Kale to Joseph Larmor, 1929, thanking him for his ‘superb great volumes’.
