File of correspondence and papers, compiled by J D Cockcroft, concerning loans to a Cambridge Philosophical Society exhibition of scientific instruments, including some papers concerning insurance.
The committee organising the exhibition consisted of A Hutchinson (chairman); H Hamshaw Thomas (secretary); J D Cockcroft; P I Dee; H F Newall; E K Rideal; and F J M Stratton.
Items were loaned by the following: the Archaeological Museum; the Cavendish Laboratory; various colleges including Trinity, St John’s, Jesus, Gonville and Caius, King’s and St Catharine’s; the Weights and Measures Office of the Borough of Cambridge; various Cambridge University departments and laboratories including the Department of Mineralogy, the Botany School and the Zoological Laboratory; the Lewis Evans Collection, Oxford; the Oxford Museum of the History of Science; the Royal Society; the Sedgwick Museum; the Fitzwilliam Museum; and individuals.
The file includes a copy of the printed catalogue of the exhibition.
