Commemorative plaque in the Library, 1980
Scope and Contents
Correspondence and papers concerning the inscribing of a plaque in the Library (displayed on the second floor of the Library as at May 2015) commemorating the founding of the Library in 1821 and its transfer in 1976 to become a dependent branch of Cambridge University Library.
The file includes a drawing of the plaque by Mark Bury of Oakington, 1980, also correspondence and papers concerning a visit to the Scientific Periodicals Library by the Chancellor (Prince Philip) on 27 March 1980 and a press cutting mentioning that visit alongside a report of the Chancellor’s visit on the same day to open the new magistrates’ courts in Cambridge.
