Acquisition by the Cambridge Philosophical Society of publications from overseas, 1834 - 1858
Scope and Contents
Correspondence and papers concerning the transport of, receipt of, duty on, and poste restante arrangements for parcels of publications from other bodies, including the Smithsonian Institution, Washington; the Société des Sciences, Bordeaux; and the Academy of Munich; also items from Vienna and Italy. Agents of transport include Williams & Norgate of 14 Henrietta Street, Covent Garden; C F Molini of 17 King William Street, West Strand; Golden Cross Foreign Office, 41 Regent Circus, Piccadilly; and Hippolyte Baillière, 219 Regent Street. The file also contains (undated) manuscript lists of other societies to which the Cambridge Philosophical Society sent its Transactions, including overseas societies.
