Associates Record Cards, 1947 - 1984

 Series
Reference Code: GBR/0279/CPS 6/2/5

Scope and Contents

Arranged alphabetically by surname, recording the following information: name; dates of membership and record of subscriptions paid; date of election; degree / university; Cambridge College / Department; ‘P.K.’ [this may stand for ‘Personal Knowledge’, ie the name of a person who knows the applicant personally and proposed them for membership].
The cards are often annotated with later details, eg contact made to check whether they are still in Cambridge; moves to other departments; those not wishing to renew etc.
Some cards also record the following: date of achieving PhD (noted from the Cambridge University Reporter in some instances); date of death; whether the Associate has Cambridge University MA status; date of re-election and / or election as a Fellow; date of leaving Cambridge; date of resignation.
The cards are arranged in two alphabetical subseries: CPS 6/2/5/1-8 date from circa 1947 to circa 1968; CPS 6/2/5/9-16 date from circa 1964 to circa 1984.
A label on the original box holding CPS 6/2/5/1-8 read '1950' with a later date of 17.6.80. added in red [possibly the date at which the cards were archived?].
