Scope and Contents
‘Account of the proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society at their meeting of March 18, 1867, with a few reflections suggested by those proceedings.’ Manuscript with alterations and annotations, written 20 March 1867.
Together with a letter from Herbert W Turnbull (whose father, W P Turnbull, wrote the account) to Professor Baker, 4 September 1926, in which he says the paper was ‘read I think at an Essay Society known as the Parallelepiped, which consisted of six members, including W K Clifford, Moule (late Bishop of Durham), my father and three others. You were interested in the extract from this printed in my book on my Father’.

Biographical / Historical
[William Peveril Turnbull (circa 1842 - 1917) and his son Herbert Turnbull (1885-1961) both studied mathematics at Trinity College, Cambridge. William and Herbert were Second Wranglers in the Mathematics Tripos in 1864 and 1907 respectively. William became an Inspector of Schools in 1871 and Herbert was ultimately Regius Professor of Mathematics at the University of St Andrews.]
