'Map as Artefact' was an interactive presentation in which Ian encouraged the audience to understand how varied maps could be, and how important information could be written on the back, as well as printed on the front. Many of the maps themselves, as well as accompanying notes, are preserved in the Charles Close Society Archive.

Conditions Governing Access: From the Collection: The Charles Close Society Archives is available for consultation by researchers in the Map Room at Cambridge University Library. Appointments for access should be made in advance by contacting the Head of the Map Department, Anne Taylor (maps@lib.cam.ac.uk).
