It was proposed that Leicester station should cease to be 'open' for ticketing purposes from 1 Feb 1918. That made it necessary to close the exits from the north of the station to the Swain St (formerly Upper Fox St) bridge. Because it was thought that the railway might have entered into a commitment to the Borough Surveyor regarding these exits when the bridge was built, correspondence of 1893 on that subject is preserved in the file, and this also touches on the elevated footpath to...
