Reversionary lease (copy), Scilly Islands, Cornwall
Scope and Contents
Indenture made 19 Dec. 1800 between H.R.H. George Augustus Frederick, Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall etc. and George William Frederick Osborne, Duke of Leeds, granting the wholly of the Scilly Islands (named) and half the wrecks, to the Duke of Leeds, for the remainder of the lease originally granted to Francis Godolphin, Marquess of Carmarthan, afterwards Duke of Leeds, 3 Nov. 1786 for 31 years, i.e. for a term of 14 years, for a sum of £4000 and a yearly rent of £40. Sealed with the Privy Seal for the Prince of Wales and signed by G.W.F. Osborne, Duke of Leeds (witnesses not mentioned). Note: 'Inrolled in the Office of the Duchy of Cornwall before me, Robert Gray, Dep. Auditor. 29 Jan. 1801'.
