Scope and Contents
Edward Merry and Philip Merry, yeomen, of Witchford, I. of E., acknowledge themselves bound to James Harkness, esq., of Ely, for £1400. The condition being that if either or both Merrys pay Harkness £700 with interest on or upon June 25 next, then the obligation to be void. Signed by Edward Merry, his mark, and Philip Merry. Witnessed by Isaac Cockeram, and Austin Drage, clerk to Mr. Cockeram. Note on back says: Exhibited and read at Cambridge Lent Assizes 1780. J.J. Pudney, associate.
