Translation of W.O. Focke, ''Synopsis ruborum Germainiae''
Scope and Contents
Translation of Focke's work, which was originally published by the Bremen Society of Natural History in 1877. Pasted into the back of the volume is a letter from Charles Bailey to Prof. C. C. Babington, discussing how he had the work translated, and copies of that translation made. This notes that he requested a 'literal translation', without any 'attempt to polish up the sentences so that they may read better'.
