Scope and Contents

'A cattalogue of the Knightes of the Bath, made by King Henry the Eight, at his coronation...1509. And likewise of the Knightes Bannerets made by the said King. Togeather with their severall coats of armes, creasts and quarterings. As allso the coats, creasts quarterings, and marriages of divers others of the nobilitie and gentry, of this kingdome. Collected by Isaac [S____] 1650'. The volume is cropped, with some loss of text; the name of the compiler has been obliterated. (pp.3-10) Knights of the Bath and Knights Banneret created at Henry VIII's coronation: descriptions of their arms, crests, and quarterings. (pp.10-24) 'The coates and creasts of divers lords, knightes esquiers, and gentlemen, together with ther severall quarterings'. (pp.25-29) Index of names in preceding lists. (pp.30-52) Alphabetical list of names, with descriptions of their arms, crests and quarterings. (pp.53-111) Another alphabetical list of names, with arms, crests and quarterings. The entries from p.85, letter 'R', are in a different hand, with the counties added.
